Zambia resumes mining licences issuing process

African Mining Brief learns from Reuters that after suspension in august 2015, Zambia’s ministry of mining has now resumed issuance of new mining licences, renewal and transfer of rights.

In a media briefing, Christopher Yaluma, the mining minister, said that the suspension gave the government time to revise regulations to improve the administration of mining and non-mining rights. ” In view of this development, I wish to declare the resumption of the issuance, renewal and transfer of mining rights and non-mining rights with effect from Monday (9 February 2016),” he explained.
