Implats CEO to bow out in December 2016

Impala Platinum (Implats) has announced that Terence Goodlace, its chief executive, will step down in December this year, having spent six years with the  company, which is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Goodlace presided over the most difficult phase in the company’s history, where he had to take the brave decision of scaling down operations in order to survive lower prices, in the face of fierce opposition from government and labour unions.y

In 2015, Implats shed jobs and either shelved or abandoned altogether other projects. The only projects it pursued involved developing two of its most important shafts at the cost of R4bn. The compan is yet to fully recover from effects of the five-month wage strike.

Meanwhile, Implats is yet to announce a successor.
